Permanent Migration Visas

Overview

The general skilled migration program provides the majority of Australia's migrant intake each year. Applicants must be between 18 and 44 years of age, have good English language skills, and have work experience in a skilled occupation or an overseas or Australian degree, diploma, or trade qualification.

The general skilled program consists of several visa subclasses, all based around the key criteria related to skills, qualifications, age and English language ability. Applicants will be expected to score points against a variety of other criteria that will determine which visa subclass they will be able to apply under.

Visa Options

Other visa options under the general skilled migration program include state government sponsorship, and also for those who are already living in Australia, for example, overseas students, working holiday workers, and people on tourist/family visitor visas.
